Why It Matters

It’s More Than Appearances

Having a well-groomed pet is about much more than keeping them looking (and smelling) great—it’s essential to their overall physical and emotional health! A coat that’s clean, combed, and free of parasites means a happier, more comfortable pet—and a cleaner home for you. Regular nail trims help avoid ingrown nails, which can lead to infection and difficulty walking. Routine ear cleaning is essential for many dog breeds, particularly those with long floppy ears—we’re looking at you, Basset Hounds. Whatever grooming services your pet needs, we’ll make sure they feel safe, look good, and come home happy!

Tips for a healthy pet

How to Make Home Grooming Less of a Grind

We’ve all had (or known) that pet that was a perfect angel—until it came time to trim their nails or clean their ears. It’s a fact that some animals are simply more comfortable with being groomed, and that’s that! However, there are a few ways that you can help ease your pet into being more accepting of grooming tasks:

  • Take it slow. If needed, trim the nails on just a few toes a day.
  • Keep things calm. Our pets pick up on our moods and body language, and if you’re super stressed about that brush out or nail trim, they will be too.
  • Use lots of praise and treats. Do your best to make it a positive experience.
  • Gradually increase their tolerance and comfort level with being handled. When your pet is relaxed and you’re having snuggle time, gently play with those ears and feet. This is especially effective when begun at an early age.

And of course, if home grooming is just not in the cards, that’s what we’re here for! Give us a call for more information, or read more about pet grooming tips here:
